This unforgettable concert celebrates iconic performances from Golden Age classics to today's hits direct from the stages of Broadway!
With performances and appearances by, Nikki Renée Daniels, Megan Hilty, Michael Maliakel, and Tommy Sutter.
With the American Pops Orchestra conducted by Luke Frazier, only on PBS!
MICHAEL: We're singing Gershwin.
We're singing Jason Robert Brown.
There's, um, really old school standards from the Golden Age musical theater and more contemporary things.
"Suddenly, Seymour," Alan Menken.
TOMMY: It just still feels iconic.
It's so timeless and it just feels good.
And it's like every time you get to do it, um, you would- you would just hope it's not your last time.
NIKKI RENÉE: When I was growing up, I was such a theater lover, and I used to watch all of the PBS concerts and all of my idols were on there.
MEGAN: It's the best of the best.
And- and this material is so great.
Um, and a lot of it is stuff that I've never done before, which makes it really fun too.
MICHAEL: Fresh new arrangements.
I mean it is- it is such a thrill to get to sing some of this stuff with like a- a brass section that's just wailing back there and a rhythm section and a strings section, it's just, it's um, it's a real treat.
♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ (audience applauding) LUKE: Well, we're sweating to the oldies already up here.
Thank you so much for having us.
I am Luke Frazier, the founder and music director of the American Pops Orchestra, and I'm excited to tell you that tonight you're going to be hearing some arrangements that have never been performed publicly before.
They're gonna premiere right here in the Dr. Phillips Center, and we're so happy to be doing it for you tonight.

Um, I spent four and a half years of my life playing Glinda the Good Witch in a little show called "Wicked."
(audience cheering) Oh, great.
Some of you are familiar, fantastic.
Um, but I also have to acknowledge that this song is a little strange out of context.

Yeah, there's always a couple.
It's okay, you're in a safe space to admit it.

So not only did he do his original versions of pieces, but he would bring them back later and have other artists sing them different ways.
And we are so honored to have the incredible singer, most recently in the Broadway revival of "Company," which was unbelievable.
But you'll also know her from "Les Mis" and so many other Broadway shows.
Miss Nikki Renée Daniels.
(audience applauds) NIKKI RENÉE: Cole Porter is one of the greatest composers in the American songbook.
And this next song of his is really special to me because one of my favorite singers of all time, Ella Fitzgerald, recorded it in 1956.
And this version reminds me of hers.
